Scholarship Description: Coherently prepared media – novel properties and applications” is a research project dedicated to studies of a new type of materials, the so-called coherently prepared media (CPM), which possess extraordinary physical properties. The project concentrates on the analysis of optical properties of CPM, which originate from microscopic properties (quantum superpositions of energy levels) of atoms or molecules constituting the media: ultra-cold gases (Bose-Einstein condensates), room temperature gases, diamonds with NV-color centers, photonic-crystal fibers. The quantum state of the particles will be tailored by mean of electromagnetic fields. The research merges such fields as atomic physics, atomic optics, solid-state physics, photonics, and quantum information theory. It stands at the frontiers of fundamental science, as well as modern hi-tech applications. •possibility of completing PhD thesis in physics, •access to modern experimental apparatus, •work in a dynamic team, active involvement in edge-cutting research, •development of leadership experience, •involvement in international collaboration, •stipend (3 500 PLN per month) for 2-4 years.
