PhD Studentship in the field of Bioinformatic at Experimental and Clinical Research Center

Study Subject(s):Bioinformatic
Course Level:PhD
Scholarship Provider: DFG
Scholarship can be taken at: Germany

Eligibility: -University degree in bioinformatics or an equivalent university degree in natural science -Excellent knowledge in statistics and programming languages (R, Perl, Java)
-Database administration and handling skills are a plus
-Excellent verbal and written English communication skills are required
-Candidates should be strongly motivated, team-oriented and should have the ability to work

Scholarship Open for International Students: No

Scholarship Description: Our group consists of an interdisciplinary team with expertise in biology, biochemistry, bioinformatics and medicine. Therefore we provide an excellent working environment, comprising many lab-specific datasets for analysis and the possibility to participate in the design of future experiments. We study the molecular mechanism underlying the cardiac developmental process and its aberration in human (congenital heart disease). A particular focus is on the process of gene transcription, its regulation and phenotypic consequence. The heart, cardiac and skeletal muscle cells represent our model systems employing animal models, patient material and cell culture.

How to Apply: by Post

PhD Scholarship in Experimental Stereo Vision Studies of Flow and Structural Effects, Denmark

Study Subject(s):Experimental Stereo Vision Studies of Flow and Structural Effects on Wind Turbines
Course Level:PhD
Scholarship Provider: DTU
Scholarship can be taken at: Denmark

Eligibility:
Candidates should have a master’s degree in engineering or a similar degree with an academic level equivalent to the master’s degree. Experience with wind energy or vision technology, as well as good communication skills are considered advantageous for obtaining the position

Scholarship Open for International Students: No

Scholarship Description: Modern vision technologies show great potential in wind energy research. In this project they will be used and developed to study dynamical movements of turbines and also certain flow properties. Stereometric techniques will be used to measure the deflection of a large rotating wind turbine and the same technology will be used to characterize the dynamics of a small, floating, model-scale offshore wind turbine with a vertical axis of rotation. This knowledge will be coupled to dynamical models of the turbine. Finally, fast line-scan cameras will be used to measure the tip vortex of an operating wind turbine and the results will be compared to current models of the vortex.

How to Apply: Online

Scholarship Application Deadline: 14 August 2011
